Michelin Starred Harbor House Inn Wedding in Elk, CA
I truly adore all the weddings I’ve documented, but if there was one wedding I wish every person could experience at some point just so folks knew the potential of what a wedding could be, it would be James and Callyn’s intimate elopement at Harbor House Inn in Elk California.
3 hours north of San Francisco, you will find a cozy inn nestled on the cliff of the California coast, complete with jagged rock formations, shaggy cows, and a spectacular private beach. Callyn is a chef and James is a huge foodie. Knowing that food would be a priority for their day, they decided upon Harbor House Inn not only because of its jaw dropping location, but because the property holds a coveted Michelin Star. The restaurant’s menu is Japanese inspired and seafood oriented, heavily focused on foraging from the local ecosystems. Their small guest count of 12 meant the couple could invest in a unique dining experience, and it also gave them the opportunity to focus on being present with each and every person.
From a casual welcome picnic on the beach, to a breathtaking ceremony backdrop, to dancing in the ocean, to sake and wine filled bellies by the bonfire — it was the perfect, relaxed celebration, as all weddings deserve to be. In addition to taking photos, we had the honor of documenting the day with super 8mm film, which added a nostalgic touch to this coastal celebration.
If you are considering getting married at Harbor House Inn, my word of advice is — absolutely do it.
